He framed the agenda around three pillars – security, connectivity and opportunity – and pledged to work with fellow members for a region free from terrorism.
Modi highlighted India’s commitment to joint counter‑terrorism mechanisms, including intelligence sharing and coordinated border patrols, while also urging greater investment in transport corridors, digital links and energy projects that bind SCO members together. He cited ongoing initiatives such as the International North‑South Transport Corridor and proposed new rail links that could boost trade across Central Asia.
The prime minister’s remarks were welcomed by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, who both underscored the importance of collective security and economic integration. Analysts note that India’s proactive stance at the summit could reshape the SCO’s strategic balance, especially as member states navigate competing influences from China and Russia.
