Speaking at the Veerashaiva Lingayat Dharma Samrakshana Sammelana in Sujnana Mantapa, Vijayanagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra called on community members to set aside internal differences and work together to protect the faith, traditions, identity and institutions of the Veerashaiva Lingayat community.
He reminded the audience that the community has, for centuries, served society through Annadasoha (food service), Aksharadasoha (education) and Jnanadasoha (knowledge dissemination), and stressed that preserving the tradition of “Let humanity prevail, and let peace prevail in the world through Dharma” is a collective responsibility.

Vijayendra warned that certain factions claim progressivism and rationalism to distort core principles of the faith, urging open discussion on public platforms and within the community, and called for introspection to identify problems and devise solutions.
Highlighting that thousands of Veerashaiva Lingayat mutts face financial and social challenges, he urged Jagadgurus, community leaders and ordinary members to support these institutions, recalled his father B.S. Yediyurappa’s assistance to mutts during his tenure, and pledged to work with the blessings of the Jagadgurus to strengthen them, linking community unity to Karnataka’s overall welfare.
