The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday arrested three persons, including a Municipal Corporation of Delhi official, during a trap operation while they were allegedly transacting a bribe of ₹15 lakh in New Delhi. The agency had registered a case against an MCD Inspector and others on allegations of corrupt practices involving the grant of permissions for billboards, hoardings and LED displays.
Those taken into custody are Anil Kumar alias Khatri, a Senior Secretariat Assistant in the Advertisement Department of the South and Najafgarh zones; Anant Kumar Sharma, director of M/s Naks Creators Private Limited; and Dilip Patel, a representative of the same firm. The accused were allegedly allowing installations beyond sanctioned limits and after tender expiry in exchange for illegal gratification.

Searches conducted after the arrests yielded ₹25.25 lakh in cash, with further searches at multiple locations still underway. The CBI is examining the role of additional individuals and scrutinising records related to outdoor advertising permissions to determine the full extent of the alleged racket.
