Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Bihar Cabinet Minister Nitin Nabin has called upon party workers, civic associations, and citizens across the country to participate in the "Ashirvaad Ka Diya" (Lamp of Blessings) public service campaign to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, according to reporting by The Economic Times.
The initiative forms part of the BJP’s broader nationwide "Sewa Pakhwada" (Service Fortnight), an annual multi-week public outreach campaign organized by the party between September 17 and October 2 (Gandhi Jayanti). Under the campaign framework, party units across all states coordinate humanitarian programs, including mega blood donation drives, free health check-up camps, environmental cleanliness drives, and tree-plantation campaigns.
Nabin stated that the "Ashirvaad Ka Diya" initiative encourages families and community organizations to light oil lamps at home and at community centers, symbolizing prayers for national prosperity, good health, and continued development under the Union government's welfare schemes. The minister emphasized that party representatives should focus on direct public welfare delivery rather than ceremonial celebrations.
State party units across northern and eastern India announced comprehensive district-level schedules for the fortnight, deploying youth wing (BJYM) and women's wing (Mahila Morcha) volunteers to coordinate sanitation initiatives at district hospitals, distribute assistive devices to persons with disabilities, and organize tree-planting drives under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign.
