The forum, titled "Unity And Diversity In India's DNA," was organized by a coalition of diaspora cultural groups and think‑tanks to discuss India's evolving global narrative.
Bhagwat underscored that India's unity is not a monolith but a tapestry woven from dozens of languages, religions and regional traditions. He warned that attempts to fragment this social fabric undermine both national security and economic progress, and he linked the RSS’s vision to the current government's development agenda, citing inclusive growth as evidence of the model working in practice.
The speech elicited a mixed response. Several diaspora entrepreneurs praised the emphasis on pluralism, while human‑rights advocates cautioned that the RSS’s ideological leanings could marginalise minority voices. U.S. officials declined to comment, and India’s Ministry of External Affairs released a brief statement saying the remarks reflect the country's democratic values and its commitment to diversity.
