At a gathering of party workers from the Parchur Assembly constituency in the YSRCP central office at Tadepalli, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that the YSR Congress Party will launch a statewide padayatra in September or October 2027. The march, intended to "take up people's issues and strengthen the grassroot connection" before the 2029 elections, will pass through Parchur and other key districts across Andhra Pradesh.
Reddy framed the upcoming walk as a response to what he described as growing public resentment against the TDP‑led coalition government headed by Chandrababu Naidu. He contrasted the YSRCP’s record — claiming 99% of its manifesto promises have been fulfilled — with the opposition’s alleged failure to honour promises, including the distribution of bonds bearing Naidu’s and Pawan Kalyan’s signatures that were never honoured after the election.

The leader invoked the term "Kurukshetra Sangramam" to rally cadres, warning against any misuse of official machinery. He recalled the 2017 Nandyal by‑election, noting that repression could not secure lasting political success, and warned that the current coalition is attempting to delay local‑body elections by staging a controversy over a 34% reservation for backward classes, a move he expects the courts to strike down.
Reddy also highlighted the YSRCP’s past grassroots mobilisation, referencing his own 3,648‑km padayatra in 2019 that helped the party secure a landslide victory. He noted that the party’s performance in the 2024 Assembly election fell to 11 seats out of 175, and that several senior leaders have defected, underscoring the need for a morale‑boosting campaign ahead of the 2029 polls.
The announcement comes as the YSRCP seeks to capitalize on perceived shortcomings of the Naidu government, including alleged police misuse and false cases against YSRCP leaders. Reddy urged party workers to visit households confidently, citing the party’s achievements, and promised that the padayatra will reinforce the YSRCP’s connection with voters across the state.
