On October 25, beneficiaries in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand, received newly built pucca houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, marking a tangible delivery of the flagship housing scheme in the hill region.

The handover fulfills the long‑standing aspiration of home ownership, offering families a secure base where children can study and livelihoods can stabilize, officials said. The initiative aligns with the broader vision that a home provides security, nurtures children’s futures and reshapes lives, officials noted.

The project is part of the central government’s effort to provide affordable, durable housing across rural and urban India, with Uttarakhand among the states seeing rapid progress under PMAY.
