On Thursday, Sep 24, U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor arrived at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan and posted on X that he was eager to see Indian and U.S. troops train side by side during Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2026, the country’s largest bilateral defence drill.
The two armies conducted coordinated drills that included small‑arms fire, artillery engagements, long‑range weapon systems and attack‑helicopter operations across desert and mountainous terrain, a move the Indian Army said bolstered mutual understanding, operational coordination and confidence to operate together on diverse battlefields.

The 22nd edition’s opening ceremony was held on Sep 15 at the Auli Foreign Training Node in Uttarakhand, where Major General Amaresh Gunjan and Colonel Benjamin Jackman addressed roughly 600 personnel from each side. The exercise emphasizes infantry‑dominated operations, technology infusion such as drones and autonomous surveillance systems, and the exchange of tactics, techniques and procedures to improve joint planning and execution.
