The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday directed that proceedings regarding a contempt issue involving the chief secretary be referred to a roster bench. The legal dispute centers on allegations of contempt stemming from a contested affidavit related to a Supreme Court appeal.

During the proceedings, state counsel offered an unconditional apology to the court. The applicants had previously alleged that the disputed affidavit constituted a contempt of court.
