Following the recent flash floods that devastated large swathes of Nepal's Terai region, the government faced circulating rumors that it had declined foreign assistance. Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal publicly refuted those claims, emphasizing that Nepal has consistently welcomed international support and that any suggestion of rejection was unfounded.
Khanal announced that Nepal is formally requesting specialised aid from both India and China to accelerate reconstruction of damaged infrastructure, restore agricultural lands, and bolster disaster‑response capabilities. The appeal includes technical expertise, equipment for de‑watering, and engineering support for rebuilding bridges and roads.

The minister also expressed gratitude for the assistance already provided by neighboring countries and multilateral agencies, noting that coordinated efforts are essential to mitigate the humanitarian impact and to prepare for future climate‑related emergencies.
