Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Congress party extended Vijayadashami greetings on Tuesday, October 20, as India marked the festival symbolising the triumph of good over evil.
Modi wished the festival would strengthen resolve and bring prosperity. Murmu highlighted Lord Ram's victory over Ravana as a symbol of righteousness, urging citizens to uphold cultural ideals for an inclusive society and a Viksit Bharat. Shah described the occasion as a celebration of truth over falsehood that inspires the path of duty.
The Dashami Tithi began at 12:50 pm on October 20 and ends at 2:11 pm on October 21. The festival commemorates Lord Ram's victory over Ravana and reunion with Sita, observed through Ravana Dahan and cultural programmes nationwide.
