The gathering marks the 65th anniversary of the NAM summit, a forum of more than 120 developing nations that was founded during the Cold War to promote collective self‑reliance and resist alignment with major power blocs. India, a founding member, has traditionally used the platform to advance South‑South cooperation and articulate an independent foreign‑policy stance.
