The JNU students' union alleges they have been denied medical care during the strike, while university officials say they have held two rounds of talks with the hunger‑striking students to address their concerns.

The situation has been covered by outlets such as The Hindu, Telegraph India, The New Indian Express and Deccan Chronicle.
