The BBMP has shortlisted 20 central Bengaluru roads—including Commercial Street and Sampige Road—for the first phase of its paid‑parking scheme after a competitive tender attracted interest from agencies for exactly those stretches. The selected operators will manage fee collection, install mechanised ticket dispensers, CCTV surveillance and clearly marked parking bays.
Two‑wheelers will be billed at ₹15 per hour and cars at ₹30 per hour, with the system designed to demarcate separate zones, display fee boards and enforce compliance through real‑time monitoring. The civic body projects the initial 20‑road rollout to generate roughly ₹3 crore annually, while the remaining 80 identified roads will be re‑tendered in the coming days.
