India and France moved into a new phase of space cooperation this month, signing several agreements that bring private firms into the partnership.
A centerpiece of the outreach is a €5 million contract between Indian startup Dhruva Space and France’s Safran Space to design, launch and operate 275 satellites. The fleet will feed India’s Rs 26,968 crore Space Based Surveillance Phase III programme.

The programme aims to deliver all‑weather, high‑resolution imaging and near‑real‑time intelligence across land and sea in the Indian Ocean.
