The new tvOS 27.2 software introduces a grouping feature that lets the Apple TV 4K manage multiple HomePods as one speaker. It also adds support for a four‑speaker surround sound system, compatible with four HomePod mini 2, four second‑generation HomePods, or two of each.
Setup can be started from the Apple TV or via the Apple TV remote app on iPhone, and the speakers automatically detect their positions for calibration. The HomePod mini 2 launches on October 30, while the fourth‑generation Apple TV 4K arrives on November 13; both can be pre‑ordered now.
