Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Sainath Babar has accused the state government of staying silent while police demand a ₹1 lakh deposit from public mandals for Dhol-Tasha processions in Pune. In a post on X tagging Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Babar questioned the administration's commitment to Hindu festivals.
The MNS leader argued the deposit requirement would place an unreasonable financial burden on smaller mandals that organise traditional processions. "This is a Hindu government, yet nobody from the government is speaking up when public mandals are being asked to deposit ₹1 lakh," Babar wrote, challenging the government to intervene.
