Veteran Bollywood actor Meenakshi Seshadri revisited one of the most recognisable sequences of her career on Thursday, heading to Mumbai's rain-lashed coastline to film a recreation of 'O Mere Khwabon Ke Shehzade', the romantic ballad from the 1985 Subhash Ghai-directed blockbuster 'Meri Jung'. The shoot, which began on the city's beaches, was carried out in the middle of spells of heavy rainfall typical of the September monsoon, lending the production an atmospheric look that mirrored the original song's dramatic coastal setting.
The original track, picturised on Seshadri opposite Anil Kapoor, became a defining visual of mid-1980s Hindi cinema, pairing sweeping seaside choreography with Anand-Milind's soaring score and lyrics by Anand Bakshi. Seshadri's decision to return to the same kind of shoreline location more than four decades later signals a deliberate attempt by the makers to evoke nostalgia for that era, leaning into weather rather than working around it.

Footage shared from the set shows the actor walking along the wet sand and coastline as crews managed camera rigs around the downpour. The production team pushed through the rain to capture the sequence, treating the seasonal showers as a production asset rather than an obstacle. Mumbai's film industry routinely schedules outdoor shoots around the four-month southwest monsoon, which typically runs from June through September and frequently disrupts coastal filming.
Seshadri, who stepped away from mainstream acting in the mid-1990s and later settled in the United States with her family, has made only occasional public appearances in recent years. Her willingness to undertake a physically demanding outdoor shoot in inclement weather has been read by industry observers as a personal commitment to the project. The actor has been sharing glimpses of the recreation on her social media handles, drawing an enthusiastic response from fans who grew up watching her 1980s work.
The original 'Meri Jung', produced by Ghai and featuring an ensemble cast that also included Naseeruddin Shah and Bindu, was a commercial success and remains a touchstone of the director's early filmography. Ghai had also directed 'Hero', 'Karma' and later 'Taal', establishing himself as a reliable maker of large-scale Hindi entertainers. By revisiting 'O Mere Khwabon Ke Shehzade' on the same kind of terrain where it was originally filmed, Seshadri has offered longtime audiences a bridge between the cinema of 1985 and the present day.
