Actor Imran Khan, a 43‑year‑old United States citizen who also holds an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card, has announced he will contest a Mumbai police notice that orders him to depart India by October 28.

Khan was detained on October 10 while taking part in a protest. He maintains that the Immigration and Foreigners Act and its rules do not prohibit OCI cardholders from joining demonstrations, and will base his legal challenge on that interpretation.
