The Sarang Helicopter Display Team of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has arrived in Egypt to participate in the second edition of the El Alamein International Airshow, scheduled to run from September 8 to 10 at the El Alamein International Airport. According to an official statement released by the Ministry of Defence, the display team will execute its world-renowned "Dolphin Leap" manoeuvre while also debuting a brand-new sequence called the "Spot Stall Turn" during the three-day international aviation event.
Recognized as the only five-helicopter display team operating anywhere in the world, the Sarang unit flies the indigenously designed and manufactured Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv. Defence officials noted that the team is widely celebrated for its high-risk formation manoeuvres, extreme close-proximity flying, and intricately synchronized routines. The upcoming aerial demonstrations are intended to highlight not only the flight discipline and technical proficiency of IAF pilots, but also the operational agility and engineering capabilities of India's domestic aerospace manufacturing industry.

Ahead of the opening aerial displays, the Indian Embassy in Egypt organized a diplomatic gathering centered on India-Egypt defence collaboration and the IAF’s featured role in the airshow. During a press conference held as part of the briefing, the Commander and key pilots of the Sarang Display Team addressed international media representatives. They detailed the specific flight characteristics of the ALH Dhruv platforms and outlined the rigorous preparation involved in executing their meticulously choreographed sequences for international audiences.
The embassy emphasized on social media platform X that the team's participation will stand out as a central feature of the airshow, underscoring the expanding scope of strategic cooperation between the two nations. The ministry further observed that performing in Egyptian skies offers a valuable opportunity for global aviation enthusiasts, industry leaders, and military delegations to directly observe the performance envelope of India’s homegrown rotorcraft platforms in demanding flight regimes.
The El Alamein International Airshow gathers prominent air forces, aerospace manufacturers, space sector delegates, and defence personnel from across the world. Ministry officials underscored that Sarang's presence adds a unique dimension to the international gathering, reinforcing New Delhi’s broader military diplomacy initiatives while expanding bilateral ties with regional partners across the Middle East and North Africa.
