Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on September 26 urged residents to stay off major arteries as the Ganesh immersion procession, which began on September 25, continues amid dense crowds and traffic bottlenecks. He warned that non‑essential travel could lead to unnecessary delays.
Officials said lakhs of devotees have gathered at Tank Bund, NTR Marg, Necklace Road, Liberty, Moazzam Jahi Market and surrounding areas, slowing traffic and delaying the immersion schedule. Consequently, regular vehicles are barred from Tank Bund, Necklace Road, NTR Marg, PV Statue and Indira Gandhi Rotary for the day.

Police and traffic personnel are working to complete the remaining immersions by the afternoon, and the force thanked the public for helping keep the festival peaceful. Sajjanar appealed for cooperation with traffic advisories and suggested alternative routes for essential travel.
