Haryana plunged into darkness on Tuesday as roughly 40,000 electricity staff walked off the job over a private discom licence dispute, leaving Gurugram, Faridabad and Nuh without power for more than 16 hours, darkening homes, drying taps and halting industries across the state.

Residents protested on the streets, Rewari villagers blocked roads and businesses reported severe losses as water shortages persisted and factories remained idle throughout the region.

An INLD leader urged the chief minister to invoke Section 108 to halt the parallel power licence that sparked the strike, while officials warned of continued outages.
