A new food court being developed by the Greater Chennai Corporation on Indira Nagar Third Avenue in Adyar has had its opening pushed to 2027. The venue will feature 30 shops in two sizes.

Construction of the Rs 4.24-crore facility is only about 40 percent complete, more than a year after its announcement in July 2025, and it has missed two opening deadlines.

Officials attribute the slowdown to the 2026 Assembly election and the subsequent change in government, while structural work is expected to finish by December, followed by a tender for an operator in January 2027.
