BJP leader Brij Bhushan Singh stated he would not have given more than 25 seats to the Congress party if he had control of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. This comment was made during his visit to Etawah, Uttar Pradesh.
The remarks followed Congress hoardings near the Jayaprakash Narayan International Centre in Lucknow, where slogans such as "200 seats are our right" were displayed. BJP National Spokesperson RP Singh noted that Congress demands had progressively dropped from seven to two seats, and the party had even requested candidates contest on the Samajwadi Party symbol. Meanwhile, SP MP Awadhesh Prasad argued that only the Samajwadi Party and its leader Akhilesh Yadav could realistically defeat the BJP.
