The Assam government has announced Usha Mangeshkar as the recipient of the inaugural Bhupen Hazarika National Award, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will present the award to Mangeshkar on November 29 in New Delhi, marking the first edition of the national-level honor established in memory of the legendary Assamese music icon Bhupen Hazarika.
The award recognizes outstanding contributions to Indian music and culture, with Mangeshkar selected for her lifelong dedication to classical and film music.
