A clip from an older international interview with Aishwarya Rai has resurfaced online, in which the actress explains her decision to continue living with her parents despite her status as a globally recognised film star.
When asked why many 30‑year‑old American women with successful careers tend to live apart from their families, Rai said she could not fully grasp the practice, describing it as a cultural norm in the United States.

She added that her own demanding schedule forces frequent travel, leaving only occasional evenings for family meals, which she says are rare and therefore treasured.
Rai affirmed her independence, stating that moving out is not a prerequisite for being an independent woman, and highlighted that she values the time she does share with her family.
The actress, who won Miss World in 1994, debuted in the Tamil film Iruvar, has earned critical acclaim, and regularly appears at Cannes; she is married to actor Abhishek Bachchan.
