The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Thursday filed nomination papers for seven probable candidates contesting the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections, marking the formal beginning of an intensified election campaign across the campus. Alok Attri, Ishu Maurya, Lakshya Raj Singh, Nitin Tanwar, Riya Chhawari, Tanya Mavi and Yash Dabas submitted their papers, with party officials stating that final candidates for the posts of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Joint Secretary will be selected through scrutiny from among this pool. The move comes against the backdrop of the Satya Niketan incident, which has sharpened ABVP's focus on student safety and secure accommodation as central pillars of its platform.
Beyond the electoral race, ABVP has simultaneously ramped up its PG-to-PG and Class-to-Class outreach campaign, deploying karyakartas directly into Delhi University hostels and classrooms to gauge student concerns, expectations and suggestions. Under the "Aakhir Kab Tak?" initiative, the organisation is conducting a comprehensive survey of PG accommodations to identify deficiencies in safety and basic facilities. ABVP has formally demanded adequate and affordable hostels, the expedited construction of new hostel infrastructure, and the strict implementation of essential safety standards in paying-guest and rented accommodations within student-dominated areas of the capital.

The ABVP-led DUSU has, over recent years, established a track record of translating student grievances into concrete outcomes. Notable past initiatives include the installation of more than 1,000 CCTV cameras across the campus, the Student Facility Centre, the DUSU Internship initiative, an increase in PG seats, reduced evaluation fees, and the launch of "Madari," "Campus Kalakar," Pink Booth and U-Bus services, alongside improvements in healthcare facilities. ABVP karyakartas are taking these legacy projects directly to the student body while soliciting feedback on areas requiring renewed attention. The suggestions collected during this outreach cycle will form the foundation of the organisation's upcoming election manifesto.
In a statement, ABVP Delhi Secretary Sarthak Sharma emphasized the broader responsibility of the students' union, stating, "DUSU is not merely an electoral platform; it is a responsibility towards the students of Delhi University. Our focus is on strengthening a student union that remains accessible, accountable and responsive throughout the year." He added that the enthusiasm witnessed during the outreach reflects the trust students place in consistent ground-level work, and that emerging issues and suggestions will directly shape the manifesto and future policy direction. Sharma concluded that the ultimate goal is building a safer, more accessible and more vibrant campus environment for the entire university community.
