Maruti upgrades Baleno with new engine, Level‑2 ADAS; i20, Altroz remain strong rivals

Maruti Suzuki refreshes the Baleno with a new powertrain, added features and Level‑2 ADAS, priced near Rs 6.10 lakh, as it competes with Hyundai’s i20 and Tata’s Altroz.

Maruti Suzuki has refreshed its Baleno premium hatchback, adding a new engine, extra features and a Level‑2 advanced driver‑assistance system (ADAS).

The updated Baleno is priced at roughly Rs 6.10 lakh, placing it squarely against Hyundai’s i20 and Tata Motors’ Altroz in the closely fought premium hatch segment.

Although the Baleno now enjoys a technology edge, the i20 and Altroz continue to be recognised for their own strengths within the same market space.

Why This Matters

The Baleno’s technology upgrade raises the bar for safety and performance in India’s premium hatch market, prompting rivals to defend their positions. Consumers gain a more feature‑rich option at a competitive price, while manufacturers must balance cost, innovation and market share in a segment where small differentials can shift buying decisions.
