First Mining reports 5.26 g/t Au over 19.55 m as drilling expands Miroir discovery at Duparquet

First Mining Gold Corp. announced drill hole DUP26‑093 intersected 5.26 g/t gold over 19.55 m, including 7.58 g/t over 12.95 m, expanding the Miroir discovery at its Duparquet project.

First Mining Gold Corp. (TSX: FF, OTC: FFMGF, Frankfurt: FM) disclosed that drill hole DUP26‑093 returned a gold grade of 5.26 g/t Au across a 19.55‑metre interval, with a higher sub‑interval of 7.58 g/t Au over 12.95 metres. The same hole also featured a narrow but notable 1.0‑metre section grading 21.80 g/t Au. A second hole, DUP26‑096, intersected 3.43 g/t Au over 28.0 metres, highlighted by a 7.20‑metre stretch at 10.36 g/t Au.

The reported intercepts are significant in the context of early‑stage gold exploration, where grades above 5 g/t Au over multi‑metre widths are considered high‑quality. The 21.80 g/t Au spike, albeit over a single metre, underscores the potential for localized enrichment within the broader mineralised envelope. Such results typically strengthen a project's resource potential and can influence future drilling density and pit design assumptions.

The Duparquet project, located in the Abitibi‑Temiscamingue mining district of Quebec, is owned 100 % by First Mining. The district is renowned for hosting world‑class gold deposits, and the Miroir target forms part of a larger structural corridor that has attracted multiple exploration programs over the past decade. The recent drill campaign was aimed at testing the continuity of the Miroir mineralisation and expanding the known strike length of the zone.

First Mining indicated that the latest drill results are part of a systematic expansion program that began earlier this year. The company has been financing its exploration activities through a combination of equity placements and existing cash reserves, allowing it to maintain an aggressive drilling schedule without diluting shareholder value excessively. While the firm has not released a formal resource estimate, the new data are expected to be incorporated into an upcoming NI 43‑101 technical report.

Analysts covering the junior mining sector have noted that the combination of high grades and substantial widths could improve the project's economics, particularly if the mineralised envelope proves continuous at depth. The company’s management reiterated its commitment to advancing the Duparquet project toward a definitive resource, emphasizing that further infill and step‑out drilling will be required to delineate the full extent of the gold system.

Why This Matters

The drill intercepts materially enhance First Mining's asset portfolio, offering a tangible basis for a future resource estimate that could attract institutional investors and strategic partners. High‑grade, wide‑interval results also improve the project's projected net‑present value, potentially influencing the company's financing options and share price.

In the broader context of the Canadian gold sector, the Duparquet findings reinforce the Abitibi‑Temiscamingue region's reputation as a prolific gold province. Successful development of the Miroir discovery could add to regional employment, stimulate local service industries, and contribute to Canada's export earnings from precious metals.
