Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote confirmed Wednesday that American investors will participate in the $16 billion East African refinery project breaking ground in Kenya today. Dangote, who is in Nairobi for the ceremony, emphasized the venture will remain African-led despite foreign capital involvement.
The refinery, set to be the region's largest, marks a significant expansion of Dangote's industrial footprint beyond Nigeria. He insisted the investment structure prioritizes African control while welcoming international partners including US firms.
