During a Friday livestream, popular Nigerian streamer Carter Efe criticised social commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM) for planning a trip to China to source the newly released iPhone 18 for Nigerian buyers, warning that the move could disrupt traders, particularly Igbo entrepreneurs who traditionally handle mobile‑phone imports.
Efe pointed out that VDM has never sold phones before, calling the venture a direct threat to existing businesses and questioning his motives, even describing VDM as a “witch” for entering a market outside his usual public activities.

VDM earlier posted a video recorded at an Apple Store in China after the iPhone 18 launch, stating his intention to help Nigerians obtain the device directly and to bypass what he described as inflated prices charged by local vendors.
The public spat adds another layer to Nigeria’s ongoing debate over premium‑smartphone pricing and sourcing, as consumers typically rely on local retailers and importers for newly launched Apple devices.
