These projects, however, have encountered practical and ethical snags. In India, the AI system struggled with linguistic diversity, misclassifying complaints lodged in regional languages and forcing manual overrides that negated speed gains. Singapore’s data‑centric approach sparked debate over privacy, as critics warned that extensive citizen profiling could erode trust in public institutions. In China, concerns about algorithmic bias surfaced when the facial‑recognition kiosks disproportionately flagged minority applicants, prompting calls for transparent auditing mechanisms.
