On Friday night at the Stade Louis II, the lights dimmed as the squad entered and interim manager Yannick Cahuzac took his place in the dugout, sitting alone on the seat that would have been occupied by Dino Toppmöeller before a dramatic change of plans the previous week.

Cahuzac, who left Lorient at the end of last season after serving as assistant to Olivier Pantaloni, returned to Lens – the club where he ended his playing career – and previously acted as Franck Haise’s assistant during the 2022–23 campaign.
