Jose Mourinho dropped by the hybrid street‑permanent Madring circuit on Sunday, just after Real Madrid’s 4-1 La Liga win over Rayo Vallecano, to watch the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix. The Real manager said he has enjoyed Formula 1 for a while and that this was his first visit to a race at Madring, which lies close to the club’s training ground.
Mourinho drew parallels between the two high‑pressure sports, observing that Formula 1 teams are a step ahead in handling big moments. He highlighted how drivers combine media duties, PR work and a relaxed mindset before jumping into the car, suggesting football could learn from that approach.

Speaking about his ties to the sport, Mourinho noted his friendship with F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali, saying he asks the Italian many questions but has no plans to become a team boss. He enjoys attending qualifying and free‑practice sessions, respects the paddock’s privacy, and recalled presenting the pole‑position award to Max Verstappen at the 2025 Silverstone race.
