Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed allegations of bribery involving billionaire Gautam Adani during a White House press briefing. When asked whether the issue had been raised with U.S. President Donald Trump, he replied, “two prominent leaders of two countries never discuss such individual issues.”
The comments arrived as U.S. prosecutors have charged Adani in a $250 million bribery scheme, and the Trump administration has issued an executive order that impacts the investigation. Modi also underscored India’s democratic principles and invoked the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning “the world is one family.”
