The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement today outlining the election procedure for two seats on the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council. Nominations will be invited from current and former BCCI office‑bearers, with the ballot slated for early September and conducted by secret ballot among the BCCI’s 31 member associations.
Veteran administrator Anurag Dhumal, who served as BCCI secretary from 2017 to 2022, and Rajiv Majumdar, who chaired the IPL from 2015 to 2020, have both signaled their intent to stand again. Sources close to the board say no other candidates have filed nominations, making an uncontested return highly probable.

With the two seats likely to be filled without contest, the IPL Governing Council is expected to retain its current composition as it prepares for the upcoming season. Franchise owners and broadcasters have welcomed the continuity, citing the council’s role in scheduling, revenue sharing and disciplinary matters.
