A 73‑year‑old man identified as Venu Gopal of Vasant Kunj was driving a blue car in southwest Delhi’s R.K. Puram when it struck a motorcycle ridden by a man named Tapas, who was seated on a parked vehicle. The impact caused the bike to become trapped beneath the car, which then continued along a tree‑lined road, dragging the motorcycle for roughly 500 metres, as captured in a circulating video.
A crowd gathered as the car moved, with a woman on a scooter recording the scene, opening the car door and demanding the driver exit. She slapped Gopal, while onlookers called him “shameless.” Gopal folded his hands in apology before being pulled out by a bystander. Police subsequently arrested him, impounded the vehicle and conducted a medical examination that found no evidence of alcohol consumption.

Delhi police say the preliminary enquiry confirms Tapas was on a parked vehicle when his motorcycle was hit, and the car’s continued motion caused the prolonged drag. The incident follows a recent Gurugram case where a driver was arrested for deliberately hitting a female biker, underscoring heightened scrutiny of reckless driving in the region.
