The ruling BJP and opposition Congress have entered a sharp verbal duel over the latest BRICS declaration, with each side framing the outcome to suit its political narrative.
Congress leaders, led by senior minister Jairam Ramesh, praised the declaration as a diplomatic triumph, invoking Jawaharlian Nehru’s Bandung Conference legacy and repeating the slogan “Mera saaya saath hoga” to stress continuity with Nehru’s vision.

The BJP, however, countered the praise by branding the declaration a showcase of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s shortcomings, arguing that the grouping’s expansion reflects policy failures rather than diplomatic success.
