State-owned missile maker Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) disclosed in its 2025–26 Annual Report, published in September 2026, that its dedicated Advanced Short Range Air-to-Air Missile (ASRAAM) Final Assembly, Integration and Testing (FAIT) facility has achieved full operational status.
The specialized manufacturing plant establishes end-to-end domestic assembly, integration, and testing infrastructure for advanced air-to-air missile systems. The operationalisation comes as the Indian Air Force prepares to meet operational requirements for the short-range ASRAAM platform across its fighter aircraft fleets.
The facility represents one of BDL’s key infrastructure expansions aimed at strengthening indigenous defence production and long-term missile maintenance capabilities. By transitioning assembly and testing operations to a fully functional domestic plant, the initiative supports national self-reliance in precision-guided munitions, reduces dependency on direct foreign equipment imports, and enhances India’s sovereign defence industrial base.
